Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Engineer must be a result-oriented, creative, problem-solving individual interested in maturing emerging concepts into practical, deployed solutions by managing mechanical engineering and engineers across APL product lines including Power Pallet, Powertainer, and Chartainer.


Department: Engineering & Product Development
Reports to: CTO
Status: Full Time Employment

Primary Responsibilities

  • Converting concepts into comprehensive, detailed, practical solutions.
  • Mentoring other mechanical engineers.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to analyze problems and downselect solutions.
  • Task Management
    • Balance engineering task priorities across product platforms.
    • Identify resources required to resolve engineering problems.
    • Delegate tasks.
    • Report on task status and workload.
  • Prototyping
    • Create powerful parametric models to enable efficient revisions.
    • Support testing of prototypes.
    • Convert testing feedback into Engineering Change Orders.
  • Implementing & Developing Engineering Standards & Design Principles:
    • Sheetmetal tolerances
    • Material compatibility
    • Tubing/flange design
    • Gasketing systems
    • 3D model standards management

Qualifications

  • Minimum: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in one or more of the following industries:
    • Agricultural equipment
    • Pharmaceutical equipment
    • Mechatronics
    • Portable Power Generation/Industrial Power Generation
  • Experience with
    • Solid materials handling
    • Sheet metal design and fabrication
    • Gas-tight systems and related sealing methods
    • Mechanical powertrains
    • Technical Writing
    • CAD – Solidworks
    • PLM – Arena
    • PDM – Solidworks
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, as well as Google Docs/Drive and CAD environments.
