Municipal Green Waste

3 men looking at PP30 at Ecostage Tokyo
APL provided a PP30 to the Ecostage, a renewable-energy development firm in Tokyo. Ecostage believes the earth where we live is irreplaceable, and that they have an obligation to contribute to the global environment as a responsibility to future generations. They are using the PP30 they have installed at their Anan City location to demonstrate the practicality and importance of biomass-energy to their customers. Ecostage and APL are working together to tie their Power Pallet into their local utility grid, a process that can be complex and difficult due to the variety of standards and regulations in the various jurisdictions…...
crew with PP20 mat Denova in Denmark
This PP20 was purchased by DeNova, a waste recycling and reuse yard at the port of Frederiksværk, about 50 km northwest of the capital city of Copenhagen. They see it as a challenge to find value in what others may think is just trash, using modern techniques to sort waste into fractions that can be recycled or reused. One way they hope to reuse biomass waste is by gasifying it. They plan to use their PP20 to explore how our efficient CHP systems can best fit into their mission to mine potential resources from the waste stream, trying to save…...
crew with PP20 at Green 2 Energy in Mexico
Green to Energy (G2E) is a renewable energy company located in the colonia of Santa Catarina, in the Coyoacán borough of Mexico City. G2E specializes in biomass gasification for the energy production. They design, develop and implement projects that produce thermal, electrical and mechanical energy using waste biomass. They offer a wide range of solutions for biomass energy from 20 kWe to 2.2 MWe, using modular systems that meet international requirements. They have added one of our PP20, 20kW Power Pallets to their demonstration center for the study of technical and economic feasibility of technologies for generating thermal/electrical energy. The first of its kind in Mexico, and supported by the…...
PP20 at Zero Waste in Bangkok Thailand
Thailand has a very comprehensive waste management system. Their national disposal plan is organized by the Royal Thai Government, and then distributed among the central government, regional governments, and local governments. Each agency oversees different part of the system. The central government and its ministries set standards and policies and define regulatory regimes. Provincial and district governments coordinate between the central and local jurisdictions and legislate specific regulations, while the local municipalities are responsible for the actual waste management which is contracted to private industry under Pollution Control Department. This results in a very comprehensive nationwide emphasis on recycling and…...
crew of GEE energy in China with PP20
Shenzhen Green and Clear World Environmental Engineering Inc (GEE) Located in the Yantian District, International Creative Harbor, in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, GEE are using their Power Pallet to develop sustainable waste management solutions. They focus on research and development on the processing of municipal solid waste (MSW) especially its conversion into useful power. MSW incineration as an a energy and waste management solution is growing very rapidly in Chinese at pace with their booming economy. Efforts by the Chinese government to meet GHG standards by reducing their dependence on coal as their primary power source have resulted in generous feed…...
Ben Shell with PP20 at Limye Pa in Haiti
Haitian corncobs purchased from local farmers fuel a Power Pallet located in the small village of Tuffet in Haiti. Limyè Pa w, a labor of love created by Ben Shell, Dan Bierenbaum and Duquesne Fednard, is using its Power Pallet to supply power to the community with an innovative microgrid system. They are building a self-sustaining business selling electricity in small prepaid units to local homes and businesses, where access to power has been largely unavailable.  Read or listen to an NPR story about their project. courtesy Carrie Kahn/NPR...
