Rural Electrification

Team posing with power pallets
Founded in Namibia in 1990, Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) is dedicated to saving the cheetah in the wild. An internationally recognized center of excellence in the conservation of cheetahs and their ecosystems, CCF promotes research, education, and land use to benefit all species, including people. Two Power Pallet PP30 units were integrated into their Biomass Technology Demonstration Center's hybrid microgrid to support a torrefaction plant where biomass prepared as fuel. APL is proud to support their vision to see a world in which cheetahs live and flourish in coexistence with people within a sustainable system.
The project was implemented under a GEF-funded project aimed at promoting biomass and small hydro for productive uses in Cameroon, implemented by UNIDO in collaboration with the Cameroonian Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MINEE) and the Rural Electrification Agency (AER).
Genia Global Energy, a sustainable energy company located in Valencia Spain, has added a PP30 to their Smart Hybrid Microgrid project site in Honduras.
crew of Masarang Foundation in Indonesia with PP30
The Masarang Foundation is committed to finding solutions for the most urgent global problems of our time: deforestation, biodiversity loss, climate change, poverty, and underdevelopment. They have been an early adopter of APL technology which they have deployed to sites where power is needed to support their biodiversity activities. Two PP20s were recently commissioned in Indonesia where they will be using biomass waste from their reforestation projects as feedstock for the units. ...
PP20 installation at Sierra Conservation Resource District
APL provided a PP20 to the Sierra Resource Conservation District (SRCD), the entity responsible for managing and protecting more than 3000 square miles of forest and foothills in the Sierra Nevada and Central Valley. SRCD operates the gasifier in wooded areas that have experienced wildland fire and insect infestations to demonstrate the PP20’s capacity to reduce forest fuel loads and wildfire risk while sequestering carbon and generating on-demand electricity. These activities are part of SRCD’s recently launched Carbon Management Program that aims to understand and manage the carbon cycle for both ecological and economic benefit. APL and SRDC were awarded…...
wedew unit at Hertz Ranch
As Part of our partnership with the Skysource/Skywater Alliance, the prototype WEDEW Atmospheric Water Distiller, powered by a PP30, was installed at David Hertz and Laura Doss-Hertz's ranch in Malibu, California. Ongoing development, following our winning of the Water Abundance XPrize, is aimed at producing portable units able to be deployed at disaster sites worldwide. Additional Details and images coming soon...
crew of University of Guyana with PP20
The University of Guyana installed a PP30 to use for research in their Forestry and Agricultural schools on their Turkeyen Campus in Greater Georgetown. Additional Details and images coming soon...
crew at UTM with PP30
We installed a PP20 at UTM to be used for research into sustainable technology. UTM is a leading innovation-driven entrepreneurial research university and the largest postgraduate research university for technology in Malaysia. crew from Center for Scientific Research of Yucatán (CICY) with PP20
The Center for Scientific Research of Yucatán (CICY) has installed a PP20 Power Pallet at the campus in Merida, Yucatan. CICY is a public Research Center of the CONACYT (Mexican National Council of Science and Technology) focused on conducting basic and applied research to develop and transfer technology that promotes the development of a society in harmony with the environment. CICY has a strong focus on climate change due to the Yucatan's extensive forests and abundant resources that can be used for bioenergy, such as wastes from the agri-food industry. Part of the CICY's mission is to become a key…...
Vincent Igboeli installing PP20 at Rwanda Girls School
Vincent Igboeli installing PP20 at Gashora In 2009, the Rwanda Girls Initiative opened Gashora Girls Academy of Science and Technology (GGAST) – an upper-secondary girls’ boarding school located in Bugesera District an hour south of the capital city of Kigali. GGAST welcomed its first class of 90 girls in February, 2011. Tapping into APL's long-established relationships in Africa, especially with the Booker Washington Institute in Liberia, APL placed a PP20 at the Gashora campus. The school has an active agricultural program, operating a successful 14-acre farm on campus where they hope to perfect techniques for running the locally plentiful macadamia…...
